About the Event

Plein-Air with Julia Borodina - Mixed Ability Group (WATERCOLOUR)

This course has been designed for anyone wanting to discover and develop their watercolour painting outside the studio space.

You will build confidence to explore the outdoor environment around you, inspire by various light conditions, develop resilience to changing weather and gain an insight to challenges of an outdoor practitioner. You will produce small/ short studies on A4 paper or one larger work on A3.

Each session will have its own focus. You can study: Sky and clouds, Perspective in a landscape, Light and Shadows, Trees, Flowers and Composition.

If the weather is very stormy and wet, then the session will be at the café next door to Eco Hub.

Dress in comfortable for the day clothes and shoes. Field easels, boards will be provided. You may wish to bring a foldable chair for extra comfort if you have one. You can bring your own equipment or it can be provided to you @ £6 extra cost.

Equipment you will need (Watercolour): paper for trying the colours/ colour mixing samples, watercolour paper A4 or A3 size, sponge, palette knife, a range of watercolour brushes, including a mop brush if possible, watercolour paints (Julia will be using St Petersburg White Nights blocks, they are her favourite), palette or big white plate, kitchen towel, pencil, eraser, masking tape, water pot.


  • If you have any symptoms of COVID please do not attend the workshop.
  • The workshop and Eco Hub services will have been throughly cleaned beforehand, surfaces and equipment will be cleaned throughout the event.
  • There is a maximum of 4 people in the Eco Hub Workshop or 10 in our alternative workshop area (Lucy's Cabin).
  • Hand sanister and antibactiral wipes will be available throught the workshop should you need.
  • We offer a well ventilated work area.
  • Masks or visors are required during demonstrations or moving around the workshop, but optional whole seated at your work area.


If you cancel the place at least 1 month before the date of the workshop you will receive a refund less £5 admin fee, this applies to ALL cancellations.

If less than 1 month of the date, we will only be able to offer a refund if the place can be filled.

If we cancel the workshop a FULL refund will be given or an alternative date will be offered.



    This ticket includes all materials and equipment needed plus a brew.
